Day of Discovery at Oxnard Airport
December 10 @ 12:00 pm ─ 4:00 pm
The field of aviation presents tremendous opportunities for all students across Ventura County, but especially for the students inf the communities surrounding Oxnard Airport. But the first step needs to be one of discovery – finding out what aviation can be all about! Excitement is building in anticipation of a “Day of Discovery” planned for December 10th at Oxnard airport, from noon to 4 pm. This educational event is a collaboration between the County of Ventura Department of Airports and local chapters of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and the Ninety‐Nines, Association of Women Pilots, all of which have a strong focus on youth education.
Here’s what is being planned:
– Discover Aviation: Age group-oriented activities to introduce attendees to various facets of aviation, including airport and tower tours.
– Discover Airplanes: Static display of the unique aircraft on the field.
– Discover Flying: Conduct Young Eagles (YE) flights for those aged 8 to 17. YE is an EAA-sponsored program to introduce youth to flying. This is the really exciting part of the event BUT involves advance sign-up at the event link: https://youngeaglesday.org/?
California Aeronautical University will bring their mobile flight simulator bus to Day of Discovery where attendees can test their aviation skills and experience simulated flight.
