California Aeronautical University launched the Oxnard Flight Training Center in Ventura County, California to provide the opportunity for Ventura County residents to become professional pilots. With the University’s aviation degree programs offered online and flight instruction provided at Oxnard Airport, students can conveniently study online and fly locally.
Located on the south end of the Central Coast, Ventura County provides a unique environment to live and learn how to fly. The Channel Islands National Park, agricultural fields, sandy beaches and majestic mountain ranges provide a beautiful backdrop when soaring the skies. Additionally, as Ventura County’s largest city, Oxnard provides a prime location to get started in the aviation industry.
Oxnard Airport has a low volume of traffic, which reduces wait times and provides more instruction per flight training, operates in a radar-controlled environment and is close enough to nearby airports to provide a variety of in-flight scenarios.

University Strength, Local Convenience
All flight instruction and online courses are delivered by CAU with no courses or flight instruction contracted to a third party partner. Students at this flight training school have access to CAU’s certified flight instructors, a fleet of training aircraft, including Cessna 172 G1000, and airline partners.
FAA Part 141 Approval
CAU Oxnard holds FAA Part 141 approval and students who earn their degree here can benefit by receiving a 500 flight-hour reduction when seeking their ATP certificate. The University also offers financial aid to those who qualify, including grants and loans, and accepts the Post-9/11 GI Bill®
Pathway To Cadet Programs
Students have access to certified instructors and industry-relevant equipment. Students also have a direct pathway to regional airlines’ cadet programs available through the University’s airline partnerships, which are critical to help start your aviation career.

Fixed-Wing Flight Training
California Aeronautical University has been training future pilots through its fixed-wing aviation degree program in Ventura County for almost ten years. Designed for those who want to fly professionally, the Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics degree program offers a year-round, fast-paced schedule that enables students to enter the pipeline for aviation careers in a shorter amount of time.
Students can graduate from this fixed-wing program in about three years. Along with the college degree, students also earn six required FAA certifications, can benefit from a flight-hour reduction when seeking their ATP certificate, and can take advantage of CAU’s airline partnerships, many of which include a direct pathway to airline cadet programs.
