Family members, faculty, staff, and community supporters gathered in Bakersfield to recognize graduates who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, discipline, and perseverance in pursuit of their commercial pilot career and other aviation-focused paths.

“This ceremony represents more than a milestone—it reflects years of commitment and the realization of a dream,” said CAU President Matthew Johnston. “Graduates: appreciate the here and now, show up to every opportunity with your best self for everything and I promise you, your tomorrow will be as bright as today.”
Celebrating Student Achievement
The 2026 graduating class represents a diverse group of aspiring aviation professionals, many of whom completed intensive flight training, academic coursework, and hands-on experience to reach this important milestone. Graduates leave CAU equipped with the skills, certifications, and confidence needed to contribute to the growing aviation industry.
Student speaker Paloma Keala Ford reflected on the journey shared by classmates, highlighting the challenges they overcame and the perseverance that brought them to graduation.
“We are sitting here after hours upon hours of hard work… But we made it. What once felt like an impossible journey is now behind us.”
Impact on the Future of Aviation
CAU continues to play an important role in preparing local students for success in an increasingly competitive aviation industry. Today’s graduates are entering a hiring environment where standing out is critical—and CAU’s programs are designed to give them a meaningful competitive advantage.
Through a combination of a bachelor’s degree, structured flight training, and opportunities for flight-hour reductions, graduates are equipped with credentials that strengthen their candidacy as they pursue a commercial pilot career. In addition, CAU’s airline partnerships and clearly defined career pathways help position students for long-term success as they progress in the industry.
By developing highly trained, well-qualified aviation professionals, CAU not only supports individual career advancement but also contributes to the broader economic and workforce strength of its communities and the nation as a whole.
