Dr. Michael Berry has always had a love for aviation. Growing up in a military family, his father would take him to the airfields as a child where he would look to the sky as planes came and went and watched his father work on aircraft. Life as a military child took Dr. Berry all over the world. Born in St. Paul, MN, he has lived in Las Vegas, Biloxi, the Azores, and Germany. Most recently living in Arizona and California.
Holding a Doctor of Business Administration, Dr. Berry also holds a Bachelor’s in History and Political Science, and a Master’s in Business Administration. His professional career has had many paths, however, most recently being Dean and Director of Education here at California Aeronautical University.
In 1994, Dr. Berry fulfilled a childhood dream and earned his private pilot certificate. For students looking into the career of professional aviation, Dr. Berry advises “You should aim to feed your passion and enjoy what you wish to make a career. Once in school, become an active participant in not just your education, but all things on the campus.

Mr. Matthew A. Johnston has over 23 years of experience serving various roles in education and is currently serving as the President of California Aeronautical University. He maintains memberships and is a supporting participant with several aviation promoting and advocacy associations including University Aviation Association (UAA), Regional Airline Association (RAA), AOPA, NBAA, and EAA with the Young Eagles program. He is proud of his collaboration with airlines, aviation businesses and individual aviation professionals who are working with him to develop California Aeronautical University as a leader in educating aviation professionals.
